Singer-songwriters Justin Roth & Chris Cunningham's first CD as a duo entitled “2 forms of ID” was released in 2000. Though both have established solo careers with a combined total of over 19 years of touring experience, they have joined forces on this release to commemorate their touring together.
The album was recorded at two sold-out nights at Amazing Grace Bakery & Café in Duluth, MN in November 2000 towards the end of their sixty city tour. “2 forms of ID” features both Justin & Chris performing as a duo as well as solo. Armed mostly with their acoustic guitars and voices, each also perform on numerous other instruments including: djembe, udu drum, concertina, harmonica and E-bow. It features many songs written by both Roth & Cunningham independently as well as four cover songs by Lyle Lovett, Chuck Brodsky, Greg Brown and Martin Sexton.
The "Audience Song” is one of their jaw-dropping antics in which the audience selects subjects and writes the lyrics to their own song during the show. Then music is made up on the spot and the lyrics are improvised into song. This is just one of the many that were recorded on that particular tour.
Once the release of “2 forms of ID” Justin & Chris have completed six tours involving over 150 shows performed and covering over 15 states. The album sold through it’s first pressing of 1000 copies after only 18 months being sold at shows and through their combined 7500 person mailing list. Roth & Cunningham tour all around the country together as well as touring solo for each of their own solo careers throughout the year. “2 forms of ID” continues to garner a strong following wherever they perform and receive return invitations by venues. The album has also continued to get airplay on public and college radio stations across the country.

Independently, both Justin & Chris have recorded and released their own albums.
Justin: “Shine” (2003), “in between” (2000) and “Up Until Now” (1997). Justin also contributed four instrumental compositions for a solo guitar compilation album, “Lifescapes – Solo Guitar” (2000), produced exclusively for Target Stores.
Chris: “Madly out the Cabin Door” (2003), “House Concert” (2000) - solo, “Full Circle” (1999) and “First Snow” (1998) - as leader of the band ‘Sixth Sense’, as well as twelve releases as part of the popular folk duo “Storyhill.”
Their CDs are distributed by Peppermint, which also sells CDs by some of the Midwest’s finest singer-songwriters including Peter Mayer, Brenda Weiler and Billy McLaughlin.
